Long Term Relationship

I couldn’t possibly think of a better way to describe Jose Gosp, and his’69 Plymouth, Sport Satelite.

Jose told me he has owned the Plymouth for 17 years, having purchased it his senior year of high school.

When Jose bought the car it was in a sad state. Originally a 318 resided under the hood, and the car was that kind of succotash green Chrysler was using back in the late 60’s and early 70’s.

Jose did some work on the car back then, but when wife and family came along, ( Jose has a very understanding wife and two lovely young daughters) the project got put on the back burner for about 8 years. Jose thought about selling it, but his wife would have none of it. So he spent a few years collecting parts, then over the last couple of years turned the project into what it is now. A first rate heavy cruiser.

Jose did about 90 % of the work himself, though he readily admits to having had a lot of help from his friends. The paint was laid on by none other than Bruce Gamboni of Macco Auto Body.

The tired 318 has been replaced by a very healthy 383, backed up by a 727 torque flite. The power is put to an 8.25" rear running 3:55 gears. Jose turned 13.80 last year at English Town in street trim. Nice !!

All in all I’d have to say this is a job well done. And the six trophies Jose has won with the car second my opinion.
