My Eye Was Caught Buy George Civitelli's Beautiful 1956 Chevrolet Belair Convertible

This 1956 Chevy Belair Convertible has a 265 cubic inch engine with a 4 barrel carburetor and dual exhaust.   It's a 65,000 mile original car which George has owned for 14 years now.  In the beginning he started with another car which turned out to be more of a "project then he anticipated.  He then found this car which had a better body but needed the paint refreshed and the interior was weather worn and faded.  The first car now became a donor car for this beauty.  All the sheet metal is original GM 1956.  Two years later and many hours of what would be his free time George produced this work of art.  He did most of the work himself including the interior, but left the top to A-1 and the paint to French Auto Care of Hamden.  The rally wheels were painted to match the interior scheme and the wires are Ford's version of the original Chevy spokes.  This car is a 4 speed on the column because George didn't want to cut into the body.  Joey DeLarenzo   helped with the idea of using an overdrive cable to bring in reverse gear and keep from cutting into the X frame.  A posi rear was installed in the original rear housing.  George and his brother had a 1956 Chevy in high school.  He's brother still owns it!!

": My 56 Chevrolet has been in the family since sept. 1955.This car was my aunts.I took it over in 1962.It has a corvette 283 engine w/4 speed and 3:73 posi, original dual 4 carbs."
