June 3rd "Braggin' Rights" click on any image to see larger picture You know, I have thought long and hard about this weeks Braggin’ Rights write up. And it seems that I am still at somewhat of a loss for words. So Phil, please forgive me if this write up on you, and your car fails to express the sense of awe and amazement that I felt while we were talking Friday night. Let’s start with the easy part. The car. A beautiful 1957 Desoto. Phil bought as it as a rusted out hulk in 1998. His original plan was to pull the 354 "Hemi" out and send the body to the crusher. But alas, he couldn’t bring himself to do it. And so the restoration, or should I say resurrection process began. It only took a little more than a year for the rolling rust pile to become the icon of American style and class you see in these photos. Originally the car was black where it is now white, and green where it is now turquoise. The interior was black, brown, orange and green. Phil said so much for an original restoration and chose the color scheme we see now. Thanks for that Phil !! Phil’s touches can be seen all over this car, like in the 57 embroidered in the vinyl hood lining, and numerous other places on the car. Job well done Phil, she is one beautiful piece of automobile.
