May 13th "Braggin' Rights"

Every now and then a car comes along that just makes you say WOW !! That’s really beautiful !!

Bill Distassio’s ’69 Chevelle SS is one such car. As soon as it rolled into the Flyer Friday night I was in love. It is an authentic, numbers matching 396, 4 speed, posi-traction Chevelle SS. Meticulously restored to showroom condition including the Delco battery, redline tires, and hose clamps. When Bill bought this car it was basically a rolling chassis. It had a drive train but no glass, interior, or bumpers. Bill pulled the motor and sent it to Don Scinto automotive in Stratford where it was stripped down, punched .030 over, balanced and rebuilt. The heads were also redone and with the help of the factory fresh rebuilt 780 double pumper the 396 is making roughly 385 h.p. Power is transmitted to the 12 bolt 4:11 rear via a Muncie m-21. The body was done in Dover white and the interior in the factory red. The Chevelle is all stock except for the motor, gauges, and ladder bars. Bill even has the factory 8 track player. This is Bill’s second 69, he bought one new when he was 17 and sold it 2 years later. He wanted another one ever since, and here it is. Excellent job Bill. I look forward to seeing your car again next week.
